Industry Forum (Scams)

The prevalence and sophistication of scams in Australia is a complex and challenging issue. This workshop follows from the session at the 2023 FCA conference, and provides an opportunity for financial services, telcos, and other relevant groups to share lessons in the fight against scams.
There has been a lot of action over the past year: a new National Anti-Scam Centre, a new Scam Safe Accord from Australian banks, as well as a Federal Government proposal to create new mandatory anti-scam codes across banking, telecommunications and digital platforms. The workshop will share developments from these initiatives and showcase the voice of the victim to understand the steps that need to be taken to ensure scams are effectively prevented.
